Finding Dementia Treatment

Consult a General Practitioner first

It is advisable to visit a GP once you notice significant changes in a loved one’s behaviour related to his or her thinking, memory and movement. The right diagnoses will help health practitioners identify the correct treatment and care for your loved one, enabling him or her to live a more meaningful life.

Your GP may also refer you to any of these specialists in dementia diagnoses and dementia treatment:

Geriatrician or a specialised doctor with additional training in providing dementia treatment for those 65 years old and above
Geriatric Psychiatrist who focuses specifically on the prevention, evaluation and diagnosis of mental health disorders in the elderly, including dementia treatment and care
